The movie ‘Ponmagal Vandhal’ starring Jyotika, Bhagyaraj, Parthiban, Thiyagarajan, Pandiyarajan and Pratap Pothan. The film was produced by Suriya under 2D Entertainment, directed by JJ Fredrick, video graphed by Ramji and edited by Ruben.
Director Frederick has set the script for the most pressing issue in society, which continues to be the sexual harassment of girls. Composer Govind Vasantha has hijacked the director’s suspense with his magic music. Ramji has fascinate by his different angles in a film that is often full of court scenes.
Jyotika as Venba who takes up an unexpected case representing a person hated by everyone, Jyotika delivers a majestic performance, with the right mix of subtlety and emotions. Venba’s controlled aggression in the courtroom sequences and the emotional outbursts are portrayed in an impactful manner by Jyotika.
Parthiban was the perfect choice for his majestic voice, his good-natured physique, and his advocacy of royalty.
Bhagyaraj is aptly cast in a character that holds secrets, and delivers a neat emotional performance, while the rest of the cast including Vinodhini, Pandiyarajan, and Thiyagarajan are adequate.
With a haunting start with gruesome murders and a closed case, Ponmagal Vandhal moves on to establish K Bhagyaraj’s character Petition Pethuraj, before taking a turn with the arrival of Jyotika to revive the closed case, taking sides with the main accused.
While Thiyagarajan and Parthiban’s characters are explicitly presented with grey shades, the movie reaches the interval point with a good twist.
The mystery in the story of what happened to the psycho killer case and the whiplash that took place 15 years ago makes the first half of the story was interesting
The second half of the movie turns quite predictable, as the war between Venba and Varadarajan proceeds linearly without much twists and several repeated sequences. Jyotika’s performance in a particular portion of the movie was loud as well.
With the increasing number of crimes against women, every verse spoken in the Jyotika Climax will distract parents.
It is not just parents who pay too much attention to their girls. She came up with the noble idea of teaching men and women to be respectful.
